5 Things To Consider When You Start Your Business Online

IMG_3320

I still remember when I started my very first business back in 2008. I was fresh out of University, I had just started my first job, which I thought was my ticket to freedom, except it wasn't. A few months into my job I realised I needed more freedom, more time, and more passion and a purpose. So I started my first business through an MLM company. I had no idea what I was doing!

The good thing is, the mistakes I made back then led me to where I am today. Failing is a good thing. Remember that. You learn so much more from your mistakes than your successes. They is not to allow your failures to define you. Don't invest yourself in those failures, but in your successes,no matter how small they may be at the beginning.

Most people, however, are afraid of failure, and that's exactly what keeps them from living a more fulfilling and more passionate lifestyle. I'm all about searching for a purpose in your life and living every day with passion for what you do. If not, there's no point in doing any of it!

So here are 5 things I believe you must consider when starting your business online.

#1 – What Do You Really Want?

I know for most people when they're starting out, they don't have a powerful enough Why. They haven't juiced things up a bit to be motivated by their Why. When you ask someone why they're starting an online business, they'll say “I want more money” or “I want more freedom”. That's not enough. That's not a clear vision. You have to be more specific and dig deeper. Why is it that you want more money, what's that extra money going to do for you? or for your family? Think about that. What are you going to do with that freedom?

Take the time to really think about Why you're starting that new business venture, that way you'll be able to endure a lot more and to reach much higher levels.

#2 – What Changes Do You Have To Make In Yourself To Achieve What You Want?

You can also ask yourself “who do I have to become in order to achieve my ultimate vision?”. You have to know that in order to reach a higher level in your life, you must become a higher person, a better person perhaps. The version of yourself that you are today has to change. You need a higher level of awareness of where you stand today, of what you stand for. I know, for example, over the last few years I have developed a much higher level of awareness of my impact in this World. I also had to make small changes in my personality, overcome certain fears, in order to move forward. If you don't overcome ghosts of your past, they will haunt you you and not let you fulfill your purpose in the future. So ask yourself, what changes do you need to make today to have what you want tomorrow?

#3 – Lose the Fear of Failure.

The fear of failure can be paralyzing, I know! But it's something you must learn to overcome if you're going to be successful. Failure is a good thing especially when it happens early. And every successful entrepreneur has failed, some of them multiple times! Nobody talks about Richard Branson's failed companies before Virgin, or about Steve Jobs' being kicked out of his own company. But that doesn't mean those failures weren't meant to teach them something. I know if I hadn't taken that leap of faith 7 years ago when I started my first entrepreneurial venture, I wouldn't be here today. I'd probably still be at my 8 to 6 job. Don't get me wrong, I'm still afraid of failing sometimes, but I dance with that fear, I learn to live with it and I don't let it stop me. You have to be ok with it in order to succeed.

#4 – Develop and Leverage Systems for Your Business

It's hard to succeed without having a strategy in place. And it's also hard to succeed without systems. Being an entrepreneur means you have to learn how to leverage systems and people. If you try to do everything on your own you'll get tired fast. You have to learn how to leverage tools, and systems that will allow you to move faster and generate more cashflow. For example, affiliate marketing is a great way to leverage other people's systems and efforts in order to generate cashflow for your business. That's what I do with a company called Clickfunnels, for example. I love their platform, and I also leverage their affiliate system. I also do that with A2Hosting, GetResponse and others.

The same applies to people. You need to learn to identify people who are more talented than you are at certain aspects and let them take care of those aspects of your business. If you're not a technical person, don't try to be. Hire other people to build your website. If you're not that good at social media, hire someone to manage your communities. If you're not great at doing paid advertising, then hire someone to do that for you. I am in a position to offer all these services to you through my company as well, you can learn more here.

Delegating isn't easy, I should know! Do it gradually until you can let go of all those tasks that you know someone else would do much better, and focus on what really matters.

#5 – Invest in MENTORS.

The moment I decided to invest in myself, my results skyrocketed. At the beginning I saw it as an expense, I didn't want to hire a coach, I didn't want to pay for courses, seminars and mentors. But after I saw the return on the investment, by making myself more valuable in the marketplace, I quickly started to invest more. And it's not just about investing in yourself to improve your professional life, but also your personal life. It's so important to work on yourself and see yourself as a whole. A lot of people sacrifice their health to make money, but that's not good.

I want you to consider having me as Your Mentor.
